i'd rather pick flowers instead of fights and break mirrors instead of promises.
Q: what's one thing you wouldn't be able to live without?
A: frivolity aside? baking soda. it has a thousand and one uses. no, probably a thousand and two.
i'm starting to like vintage clothing. reasons why:
1) almost all the pieces I find have a modest neckline with MODEST body coverage (aka actually wearable)
2) they're crafted from better material than those cheap china things many blogshops stock
3) they're CHEAP; cheaper, in fact, than most of the aforementioned cheap china things (yes, i associate china with CHEAP. got a problem with that?)
i'm slowly beginning to tick things off my TOBUY list. not surprisingly, three-quarter of those items are basics. i like "plain" clothing just like this person and this other person. therefore almost my entire closet = basics. just not the right ones yet. i don't like flashy, gaudy things. i like simple, clean and muted. though i will purchase the occasional flashy/gaudy item if i really like it. which sometimes does tend to happen.
lately my perspective on music has changed a little. i see music in the same light as shopping for things. what i mean is, you could go into a terrible-looking store with hideous contraptions in the window and yet find an utterly beautiful thing in the midst of it all. you could go into a shop that malaysians label "lala" and come out with a fantastic top or pair of bottoms that you found hanging on a lonesome rack in the back. basically my whole theory equates diamonds in the rough.
so now i'll listen to all kinds of music genres as long as i like the song. it could be from some rock metal band but if i like it, i like it. it goes on my ipod and stays there forever. i choose clothing the same way i choose music and i choose music the same way i choose clothing. i'm not afraid to go into stores people wouldn't dream of stepping into or download a song people consider too pop or too noisy or too mainstream or too whatever. i won't choose clothing based solely on its brand and likewise, i won't choose music based solely on the band or singer. I LIKE WHAT I LIKE (as long as i'm not being a stumbling block to anyone else). and you can find diamonds in the rough. anyone can. i guess it is in a way, sort of being optimistic. you can find good in a sea of bad. hah! i think i'm actually improving at this character building stuff.
i need to start helping people instead of judging them. sigh, i still have so much to do (improving my person).

I, too, have taken up that approach to music - though, admittedly, I need to work harder to filter my bias against hollywood artists.
J CZY, you don't have to start with American artists. Let's try Arctic and Antarctica music releases. Any idea how to get them? Let's make a wicked range of BGMs for BBMC!
